A Delegation from the School of Engineering, Manchester Metropolitan University, UK Visits Our University, Hosted by Vice President Zhou Sizhu


On April 22, 2024, a delegation of five members from Manchester Metropolitan University in the UK arrived at our university for a friendly visit. The delegation included Eric Lou, Director of the International Office of the School of Science and Engineering; Ben Ives, Senior Lecturer in Sports Coaching; Charlotte Dawson, Manager of Regional Development; Sarah Scally, Manager of International Cooperation; and Zhang Yong, Director of the China Representative Office. Our university was represented by Vice President Zhou Sizhu, Group Leader Yang Yanling, Executive Deputy Director of the Mechanical and Electrical Department Zhang Xinjian, Deputy Director of the Urban Construction Department Zhang Fang, Deputy Director of the Information Department Zhang Fang (note: potential duplicate name, clarified context needed), Teacher Cao Siyi from the Foreign Language Department, and Cao Meng and Mei Lei from the International Exchange Office. Vice President Zhou Sizhu personally hosted the reception. The purpose of this visit was to deepen international cooperation and exchanges between the two universities, explore future cooperation opportunities, and promote common development in education and research.

During the symposium, Vice President Zhou Sizhu and the guests conducted in-depth discussions on the direction and specific matters of cooperation between the two parties. Both sides further negotiated on cooperation and exchanges and refined specific plans for future international cooperation. Additionally, the meeting explored ways to advance the internationalization process and educational cooperation of our university, with both sides expressing their commitment to maintaining close communication and contact to jointly promote the implementation of cooperation projects.

Subsequently, the delegation from Manchester Metropolitan University was invited to visit the professional laboratories of our university's Mechanical and Electrical Department. They showed great interest in the scientific research achievements made by our university in the field of mechanical science and looked forward to the early initiation of scientific research exchanges, cooperation, and mutual visits between teachers and students.

This visit not only deepened the understanding between our university and Manchester Metropolitan University but also laid a solid foundation for cooperation in education, research, and other fields. Through such international exchange activities, our university's international vision has been expanded, providing more opportunities for international exchanges and academic cooperation for teachers and students. The visit by the British delegation was a fruitful exchange that not only promoted the friendly relationship between our university and Manchester Metropolitan University but also opened a new chapter in the internationalization of our university. Both sides expressed their expectations for cooperation in more fields in the future to jointly promote progress in education and research.
